What's In My Diaper Bag - Summertime - Going to the Zoo with a young Toddler

This is my diaper bag, packed for a hot summer day at the zoo with my young toddler.

The Bag
I have the Tania B. diaper bag by Storksak. The bag exterior is a shiny nylon, mine is in the color called "graphite", to me it looks like some sort of combination of tarnished silver and antique gold, it is kind of an odd color and hard to describe. Grey and gold are pretty much my favorites, so I love that it manages to somehow be both of those and also neither, it ends up being a neutral that goes with everything and yet stands out at the same time. The silhouette of the bag is of a large handbag, but the materials are light and sporty, I have been using it heavily for two years and it is only showing modest wear. Some decorative hardware has come off and the straps are looking slightly frayed but overall I think it still looks great.

Front Exterior Pocket
I keep a small hand sanitizer, tissue pack and sunscreen, where I can easily access them. I also slip my sunglasses in here and my phone (I was using it to take this picture) when we are on the go.

Left Exterior Pocket
A large despenser of Wet Ones. You may be catching on to the fact that I am a germaphobe, especially when it comes to my child mixing with public spaces. When I cannot avoid using a public diaper changing station, I always wipe it down first!

Rear Exterior Pocket
The changing pad that came with this bag is nice and thick. Like the interior of said bag, it is a camel color and appears new and unstained after all this time. My husband recently asked me which are my worst enemy, stains or snakes? It was a hard call, but I picked stains, because snakes are not always bad (some of them eat other, scarier snakes).

Right Exterior Pocket
My Clean Kanteen and Harper's new straw cup! It was tight, but I was thrilled to discover I can fit both in here, i am trying to keep us well hydrated this summer.

Inside
On top of everything, I have packed Harper's new safety harness. He is at a point where he often desires to walk while we are out and about, the rule is that he must always be holding me or his daddy's hand, but this will hopefully provide us with a bit of secondary security in busy, dangerous locations. I also have paci pod, with a pacifier clipped and dangling here.
Interior Pockets 1 and 2
There are six open interior pockets and a zippered compartment. In the first two (behind the front exterior pocket) I keep diapers and wipes. We cloth diaper most of the time and can fit two Bumgenious diapers in a pocket vs about 6 disposables. For a regular day, when we will probably be out a few hours I carry one cloth and one disposable (incase things go pretty wrong, I would do two cloth for a bit of a longer day. For a full day out I keep a few extras in the car. When we travel we do disposables. I love this cute, simple wipes case we have. I previously had a fancier style that was bulky and often came open, leading to my wipes drying out.

Interior Pocket 3
Light Hooded jacket, lately we have pulled this out a few times when shopping inside somewhere with arctic AC. The sunglasses and sun hat are getting more play this time of year, for sure.

Interior pocket 4
I have found that as long as I carry an extra outfit, Harper will not need it, 95% of the time. But, if I don't pack spare clothes there he at least a 90% chance of clothes compromising incident. This must be some sort of mommy law.

Interior Pocket 5 + Key Fob
I keep the shoulder strap (with awesome built in stroller straps!!) in here when I don't have it attached to my bag. I really like that this bag has a key fob, to help me not loose my keys.

Zipper Compartment
In the zipper compartment I keep the small wristlet that acts as my wallet and lip gloss holder. I also keep personal care items, as needed and a little plastic container with some "just in case" items, a hair tie, a tiny bogey wipe packet.

Interior Pocket 6
I try to always carry a few snacks, a bib and a silicone placemat

Other Things Often Found In Here
Instead of the safety harnesses and depending on our itenerary, I will often either pack our Shopping Cart/High chair  cover or our Ergo baby carrier. Amazingly, wonderfully either of those things can squeeze into this packed bag, it is tight when I have this much stuff in there and I am shocked and delighted every time.

If you have any questions about my bag, what I pack or anything I should go into more detail on, please let me know! And, I would love to know, what is in your diaper bag?
